Webinar: How to Turn One Activity into Three
December 6, 2023
The webinar "How to Turn One Activity into Three" will explore communicative activities from popular collections and various ways to use each.
Activities are games and role-playing scenarios. Their purpose is to practice a particular construction, grammar, vocabulary, etc.—ideally in a lively and communicative way. That’s what makes them so great. Instead of doing five grammar exercises with brackets, it's often better to play one activity.
Of course, there are nuances. First, not everything labeled as "communicative" is genuinely communicative. Second, activities don’t always use their full linguistic potential. Authors usually suggest one, sometimes two, ways to use an activity, but there are often many more. ONE activity can be used to practice MANY different constructions and scenarios. Third, students need more practice—many constructions are complex to remember and use correctly the first time.
In this webinar, you’ll learn how to:
  • Analyze activities
  • Make them truly communicative
  • Find various ways to use activities
  • Move away from isolated grammar items and see the bigger picture of language
  • ...and much more.
Using 15 activities as examples, we will develop universal principles that can be applied to other games. I will provide a list of games with sources, and you can find all these collections online.
Language: The webinar will be conducted in Russian, with examples in English.
Duration: 90 minutes.

Participation in the live webinar is free of charge. However, to access the recording, you must register. Once registered, you will receive a link to the recording, available for 3 months.
